Charlie richards - Experienced Dog Trainer
As a former police K9 officer it is my goal to breed, raise and train the finest Belgian Malinois in the southeast. As a K9 handler, I was fortunate to win numerous regional and national awards with 2 different canine partners. While all of these awards are special, the highlight of my career was placing 17th Overall in the country at the USPCA Nationals with my canine partner "Jager" (pictured right).
As a K9 officer, I trained canines in obedience, agility, apprehension, narcotics, tracking and article searches. For the past 15 years, I have trained canines and their handlers in the aforementioned disciplines in the private sector as well as government agencies around the country.
During my time in the K9 Unit, I also received regional certification to judge narcotics trials and Police Dog 1 trials through USPCA.
Having been trained by one of the premier dog trainers in the country, I decided to put this knowledge and experience to work and my wife Jessica and I opened Lawdog Malinois in 2018. My love for hunting coupled with my love for dog training led me to expand our business and in 2020 we opened Lawdog GSP (specializing in breeding, raising and training outstanding German Shorthaired Pointers from proven hunting bloodlines).
With more expansion on the horizon, in 2021 both brands were brought under the same umbrella and Lawdog K9, LLC. was created.

jessica richards - business operations
My love for breeding dogs and "puppies" started at a young age. At the age of 10, my mom and I began breeding, raising and selling small breed AKC dogs (Chihuahua, Shih Tzu, Poodles, etc.). I was always fascinated with watching their personalities evolve and was very much involved in their growth and development from birth until they were placed in their forever homes.
Fast forward to 2002, I began my law enforcement career in Middle Tennessee and remember how excited I was when my husband Charlie became a K9 Officer and brought "TITAN" home. Observing these magnificent, intelligent, athletic police dogs inspired me to partner with Charlie in this Lawdog venture.
As co-owner of Lawdog K9, LLC (Lawdog Malinois, Lawdog GSP), I oversee the daily business operations and manage the breeding program. I also oversee the growth and development of the puppies from birth until they are placed in their forever homes. This includes temperament testing, socialization, drive enhancement.
