Hayden Smith has dedicated his life to the training and development of working dogs. Long before beginning his law enforcement career, he was raised around puppies, police dogs, and working dogs of various breeds. Growing up, he had the opportunity to assist his father in the training of working dogs, gaining firsthand experience in obedience, tracking, and handler protection work while developing a deep understanding of canine behavior and drive.


At the age of 18, Hayden became a Certified Decoy for the German Shepherd Dog Club of America (GSDCA). Following college, he trained and titled his first working dog to the highest level of certification offered through the GSDCA. In 2016, the team competed at the GSDCA National Championship, earning a Top 10 finish, placing 10th out of 30 competitors.


As a law enforcement K-9 handler and supervisor, Hayden has continued to expand his passion for working dogs through training, mentoring, and competition. He has successfully trained and certified seven narcotics detection dogs and one patrol dog, helping handlers build reliable, effective K-9 teams capable of performing at a high level in real-world environments. His training philosophy focuses on clear communication, consistency, building drive, and developing confident dogs that excel through fair and effective training methods.


Hayden has competed extensively with his K-9 partner, K-9 Titus, earning numerous regional and national recognitions through the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA), including top placements in both patrol and narcotics disciplines. He is committed to advancing the working dog profession through continued education, realistic training scenarios, and mentorship of both new and experienced handlers.


Whether on the training field, at certification trials, or mentoring fellow handlers, Hayden’s goal remains the same: to develop dependable working dogs and capable handlers who perform with professionalism, precision, and integrity.
